VISION
An internationally-recognized, interdisciplinary community of scholars, building on the synergy of transformational leadership practices, technology integration and critical literacies, for the benefit of 21st   century learners.

MISSION
The Center will conduct nationally and internationally-recognized interdisciplinary research at the intersection of transformational leadership, technology integration and critical literacies - adding value and modeling practices that create positive differences in youth and adult learning outcomes.  To accomplish this mission, the Center will:

Focus

  • Use and model key concepts and processes at the intersection of transformational leadership, technology integration and critical literacies. 
  • Bring together interdisciplinary and international resources and expertise. 
  • Draw on internal and external resources and partners in order to make a positive difference in formal and informal learning. 
  • Focus on school library media specialists, teachers and PreK-12 learners.
  • Concentrate on formal and informal learning in libraries, in schools, in homes, and in the community.

Process

  • Encourage analytical discourse and reflective practice.
  • Expand and improve evidence-based decision making.
  • Empower and build synergistic professional and student teams and learning communities.  Incorporate investigations and activities based on National Board Standards.  
  • Employ new leadership practices that facilitate cultural and mindset changes. 
  • Model and encourage innovative leadership practices for practitioners (e.g., school library media specialists and teachers) and students.

Outcome

  • Prepare educators to be transformational leaders in relation to technology integration and critical literacies.  
  • Foster innovative leadership practices in technology integration in formal and informal school environments.  
  • Investigate pedagogical practices related to technology-enhanced learning in various content areas.  
  • Create new knowledge related to critical literacies in the digital age.  
  • Address and advance critical literacies of students and educators. 
  • Develop measures and evaluation methods to assess the outcomes and effectiveness of the synergistic approach to transformational leadership, technology integration and critical literacies.
